What type of animals do you take care of?
Mostly dogs and cats but we also take care of birds, reptiles, fish, hamsters, rabbits, pocket pets, etc.
How far in advance do I need to book services?
Normally we like to book two weeks in advance. For holidays or summer vacations we recommend at least three weeks in advance to secure the dates and times you want. We will try to accommodate you on shorter notice if possible.
Do you give medications to pets?
We give prescribed pills, shots and apply ointments, bandaging etc.
How do I know my keys are safe?
No identifying marks are put on your keys. With your approval, we make a back up for emergencies, (breakage, loss etc). All copies will be returned or destroyed if requested. Most clients prefer to leave them with Sirius Pet Care for future pet sitting visits.
What’s the difference between you and other pet care providers?
We strive to provide personalized in home pet sitting and dog walking services according to your wishes. Owners and pets have different requirements so we tailor our pet visits accordingly. Unlike some other pet sitting companies, we don't charge extra for giving medications. We don't charge extra for walking or sitting for two dogs.
What cities do you service?
Arvada, Westminster, North Denver, Broomfield, Golden, Northglenn, Wheat Ridge, Thornton, Federal Heights, and Superior, Colorado.
Are you bonded and insured?
We are bonded and insured. In addition to being bonded and insured, we carry a rider on our liability insurance that provides coverage for your pets, as well as your personal property, for accidental damage, mysterious disappearance, and theft.
Will you just house sit?
Yes we will! This includes our normal non pet related services such as plant watering, rotating lights, bringing in the mail, home security checks, taking out and returning trash containers, along with other minor household duties.
What is your cancellation policy?
We schedule your pet visits in advance. We refer business to other qualifies pet sitting companies once we are booked. Pet sitting visits require 8 days notice of cancellation for full credit or refund. Between 2-8 days notice will be subject to 50% cancellation fee. Less than 48 hours, no refunds. Because we already have your time reserved, and you return early, any remaining visits are nonrefundable. Major holiday and overnight pet sits are non refundable unless we can rebook them with other clients. Credit for any non refundable pet visits can't be given for future services. If we can fill your pet visit times for any canceled or nonrefundable service, we will give you full credit for those visits that may be applied to pet visits in the following twelve month period.
Do you have references?
Yes, we can provide you with pet sitting and dog walking clients you may contact. We have many reviews on line as well.
Will my dog be walked alone?
Yes. Occasionally we will walk your dog with another dog (only with your permission), if the owner wants his/her dog to socialize with another like sized, friendly dog.
What if there is an emergency?
We will attempt to notify you of any emergency situation. We will take your pet to your preferred vet if possible. If not, to the closest emergency vet clinic. If there is a problem with your sitter we have back up sitters to make sure your pets are taken care of. If a problem arises in your home, again we will make every attempt to contact you, and repair services or appropriate authorities will be notified.
Are there any extra costs on holidays?
There is a $5.00 additional charge for all major holiday weekend visits ($20 maximum). In home overnight pet sitting is also subject to additional charges for holiday services.
My dog has shown aggression in the past. Can he still be a client?
We will determine at the meet and greet consultation if we can get along. We may require, or you may ask for, a "trial visit", if there is any question about us being able to care for your pets. If we determine there is threat of physical harm to us, people or animals outside of the home, we will not be able to provide services and we will recommend other options.
Do you keep my keys or return them?
Please have two keys ready for us to pick up at the meet and greet. You may also provide a garage code or other suitable back-up form of entry along with one key. If you can’t have them ready there will be a $15.00 charge to pick them up. This charge also applies to returning keys after service has ended. We normally keep your keys secured in our safe for future pet sitting services. We will keep your keys on file for future service at no charge. We will leave the keys only if we can properly secure your home on the last visit. If we leave the keys in your home, MAKE SURE SOMEONE NEARBY HAS A SPARE KEY, OR YOU HAVE ANOTHER BACK UP PLAN, in case you are delayed.
Should I need to notify you when I return?
YES!! We need to know that you have returned so we know your pets are in your care. Obviously if you're going to be delayed, please contact us so we can continue to care for you pets.
May I give a tip to my pet sitter?
Certainly! Your pet sitter will often go beyond what is required to make sure your pets are safe and happy and your home is properly cared for. This may include working odd hours and holidays, shoveling walks, harsh weather and road conditions, and emergency visits if you are delayed. As in many personal services, tips are never expected but always appreciated!
